About Templeogue
Templeogue grew up around the River Dodder, a genuine mix of period charm and mid-century housing.
The Landmark
Templeogue Bridge, rebuilt in 1984 and renamed Austin Clarke Bridge after the poet who lived beside it, crosses the Dodder at the heart of the area. The original village grew up around Wellington Lane, where a 13th-century chapel still stands.
Housing Stock
Most homes date from the mid-20th century onward, along routes like Templeville Road (the R112), with decent-sized back gardens that are usually established rather than blank sites.
Soil & Drainage
Bordered by both the Dodder and the Poddle, ground nearer either river tends to sit lower and drain more slowly, worth factoring into any patio base or new planting.
Local Project
We recently completed a full back garden redesign in Templeogue: an overgrown gravel border and tired shrub planting replaced with proper edging and a mixed planting scheme chosen for the garden’s shade and soil, not a catalogue look.
