About Knocklyon

Knocklyon grew up as a planned estate development in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains.

The Landmark

Knocklyon Shopping Centre on Idrone Avenue is the area’s hub, with Scholarstown Road running through as the main local route.

Housing Stock

Built out mostly through the 1970s and 80s, gardens here are smaller and more uniform than older parts of South Dublin, often boxed in by fencing or a neighbour’s wall.

Wind & Drainage

Being in the foothills means more wind and rain exposure than flatter suburbs, which matters most for fencing. Posts that skip the concrete won’t hold up as well here.

Local Project

After

We recently rebuilt a tired courtyard garden in Knocklyon: dead, patchy grass and no real paved area, replaced with artificial turf and new paving laid on a properly compacted base.
